The Talented Mr. Ripley -  Tu Vuo' Fa L'Americano

"Tu vuò fà l'americano" (English"You pretend to be American", or more idiomatically, "You're an American wannabe") is a Neapolitan language song by Italian singer Renato Carosone.
Carosone wrote the song in collaboration with Nicola "Nisa" Salerno in 1956. Combining swing and jazz, it became one of his best known songs.[1] Commissioned by Ricordi director Rapetti for a radio contest, the music was composed by Carosone in a very short time after reading Nisa's lyrics; he immediately believed the song would become a great success. The song was featured in the 1960Melville Shavelson film It Started in Naples, in which it was sung by Sofia Loren. It was also performed by Rosario Fiorello in the 1999 film The Talented Mr. Ripley and was covered by The Puppini Sisters.
The lyrics are about an Italian who imitates the contemporary American lifestyle and acts like a Yankee, drinking whisky and soda, dancing to rock 'n roll, playing baseball and smoking Camelcigarettes, but still depends on his parents for money. The song is generally considered a satire on the process of Americanization that occurred in the early post-war years, when southern Italy was still a rural, traditional society.
Carosone himself wrote that his songs "were deeply based on the American dream, interpreting jazz and its derivatives as a symbol of an America, lively land of progress and well-being, but always Neapolitan-style, folding that symbol in a sly parody of its customs".[4] According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, "Tu vuò fa l'americano" is the symbol of Carosone's artistic parabola, as he retired from music in 1960, just four years after releasing the song.[5] (Wiki)

Let me think about... the "Mulholland Dr."

Usually rather popular things are thought to have no hidden meaning or rather good things are not popular enough.  I`m going to take sometimes some of them for a discussion.

The Twelth - "Surrealism". Discussion of the "Mulholland Dr." movie.

I decided to write this until I haven`t read anything about the film...The most complicated thing I`ve ever seen.

At first we see a girl, who has just come to the city of her dreams... To tell the truth, not only her, but everybody`s who wants to become a well-known actor. She is exited, her soul is pure and looking forward something new...

The world is open, the future is clear... Seem to be.. Everything is trying to persuade the girl in that - the people she meets in airport, the house she`s living in, the great surroundings - and all that influece on her so much that she even doesn`t pay attention to the fact, that a stranger came to her house and taking shower, takes her as a friend, later - as a lover... But Hollywood isn`t so holly...

You can see how beautiful are views of Los Angeles from Mulholland drive:

On the other hand, we see the dark, the real side of the city. A strange man is afrade of his dreams, that comes truth, another mercilessly kills tree people, than we see a scarry little man in a dark room, who probably is a director of the film company, but it seems that he plays a much bigger role than we can imagine... like he rules all the people.. like a devil.

Something like this room we also can see in Twin Peaks, and a man is also similar. Think, he really simbolyzes somebody out of an after death world, who has a great power.

In the theatre a presentator all the time tries to persuade us, that all that we hear there is illusion, after we recognise, that everything we see is also so. We can also see how strangely Betty reacts, like she didn`t knew  that before, like it`s out of her nature and now she`s begining to change...

Картинка 72 из 3872

The strangest thing is that Betty suddenly turnes into Diane... Into a dirty thing, brutally killed after... Strange... But she really looks like her, Rita almost killed her moraly, Betty met her by chance, but she also could meet every other person like her - movie industry and the world is full of those ones. Look how she looks like now: She`s that Diane, Diane was just like her.

So we see a great psychological picture about humans nature and its secrets, like the story of "The picture of Dorian Grey". Quite clear instead of some aspects.

----------------------------------
Well, now I`ve read about it, and I`m agree with the version, that the first part of the film is a dream of Diane, the way she wantes to be. Not "she was" because everything tells us that it`s illusion... Yeah, that probabably is the real version.

Let me think about... the "World Trade Center"

Usually rather popular things are thought to have no hidden meaning or rather good things are not popular enough.  I`m going to take sometimes some of them for a discussion.

The Eleventh - "Talking about the most important things over and over again: is it neccesary?" Disscussion of the "World Trade Centre" movie.

I`ve heared a lot good and bad about the film, some people liked it, some didn`t at all. Some say it`s not the right time to make such movies. I think that it`s impotant to discuss such things when they happens, that`s a time when everybody`s wounds are still bleeding, and they can tell what they really feel, and there`s already a lot of films that let them talk. But I think that this film is and isn`t one of those.

There`re really famous actors starring here, playing not bad... But the film doesn`t show all dimension of the tragedy. Only two people of twenty that were saved and almost nothing about others. Spesial effects also not bad, but there`s so much pathos in words and no sense. And this damned happy ending! No, that`s not a film for those, who want to know, what exactly those people felt. That`s just an opinion about how they may feel. Every opinion has a right to live, but that`s all. Thanks and good bye.

P.S.

Every time you watch an American movie, that shows skyline of New York, do you find yourself paying attention to if the buildings still exist or are missing? I do it subconsciously every single time. What a noticeable scar...

If you`ve found a mistake, please leave a note in comments. Ok, I`ll be glad to see any comment:)
