Let me think about... Sherlock Holmes

There are about 200 attempts of screen versions and about 70 successful. But if you are keen on stories about Sherlock Holmes, I would strongly recommend you to watch these three ones. Others are a rubbish. Guy Ritchie`s are as well:)

#3.    Sherlock, 2010-..., 3 seasons + Christmas Special (2016) so far

This is the one and only (by now) version of Sherlock Holmes living in the 21st century with its gadgets, the Internet, GPS and so on. There is no need to describe how great and special it is - lots of fans all over the world will tell you.

I can`t believe they`ve finally started filming! I also can`t believe that there will be season 4! Incredible! The only thing, that I found out during these days was that the screaming girl here and the spaceman girl in the Doctor Who was played by the same actress:) So inattentive me...

 (about "Sherlock" one year later after "The Reichenbach fall")

The part "And if Sherlock can fake a deadly plunge, why can't Moriarty fake a suicide? Or perhaps we be looking at  flashbacks. Or dream sequences. Or… are we just desperately clutching at straws...?" made me think: what if all that we suggested is in vain?))

...Since the famous "Who killed Laura Palmer?" I didn`t heard a question in the world of fiction that discussion now was so passional as the question "How did Sherlock survive?" of the last episode of second season of a new screen version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories named "Sherlock: The Reichenbach Fall". 

   Of course there are a lot of versions in the Internet already, most possible of which we can unite by the name "Molly-cyclist-truck". There`s already a video (in Russian)link 
But..
   The thing is that recently on a Radio Times magazine party Steven Moffat said that he had read fan`s versions and mentioned that all of them missed one main point - something that was not like Sherlock.
Also it`s written  here: "Show co-creator Steven Moffat said there was a good explanation for Sherlock's survival - and all the clues were in the episode.
He said: 'It's all set up. We just want people to be in a frenzy of speculation.'
But he added that he would not be revealing any more clues, and added: 'We're going to be complete b******* about it.' So, now we should concider this, I guess, and rewatch our conclusions.


 So, what are the points “not about Sherlock” we may notice?
1) he calls, doesn`t send a message as usual as a note, after he gets rid of his phone
2) he cries
3) he gives in his life into a women`s hands (Molly)
4) may be his plan wasn`t completed and contained a piece of chance
5) may be he didn`t have any plan and survived by chance?)


Chapter one – Fairy Tales

 
 




















As we see, in the third episode Moriarty`s plans are made of fairy tales of the Grimm brothers. One was mentioned (Genzel and Grettel), but others were not. Let`s take a look.

1) The "IOU" apple from the teaparty scene resembles the Snow White story, when the girl was poisoned with an apple, given by her evel stepmother. Moriarty hinted at his intention to kill SH:)

2) That name, that sounded like German, which is quite difficult to remember may be... :)) Rumpelstiltskin (just Rumpel is more likely). His story is quite similar to Moriarty`s: a man with no honor and compassion get other people` kids to take what he wants. And dies in the end, of course!

3)We forgot about the third parcel that wasn`t mentioned anymore – a cookie. And the fairy tale is “The Gingerbread Man”. The gingerbread man escaped and was running from those, who want to eat him until the man is finally eaten by a curious fox. He was always proud about himself to be so clever that nobody could get him. Those are the similar points. I think SH got the idea – that`s why he escaped from policemen, and of course he expected to be dead soon. Anyway I`m already going to read Grimm Brothers` fairy tales…

4) Finally, some founded a fall in another fairy tale - Rapunzel. In the end of it the king`s son falls from the tower (SH) to some bushes with thorns (eh, here`s a mismatch. Mb the Barts isn`t that high..). The thorns cut out prince`s eyes, so that he has to live being blind until he finds Rupunzel in a desert and she heals his eyes. (Resembles Watson`s situation a bit).


Chapter two – The Kids of Rufus Brule

 
 




















This case seems to be rather suspecting:
1) the name of father (Rufus Brule as Richard Brook it sounds like Reichenbach),
2) he wanted only SH to take the case,
3) the kids even didn`t try to escape from the fabric – just eating sweets,
4) why did the little girl cry? My version is not about a mask or a twin. I guess Moriarty could frighten her by saying “Shout as soon as you see the man (showing a photo of SH) or your brother\parents will be dead” or something like that. It is much easier. 

Chapter three – The Phone

 
 



















Sherlock really makes a phone call from the roof instead of sending a message like “I`m a fake. Everything they said about me was true. Sorry. SH”. It makes a difference. It means that SH wanted Watson to see him dying. If he sent the message when Watson saw him, he wouldn`t be able to control his movements – he wanted Watson to stay exactly on the place he needed. Why? He needed a witness to admit he`s dead, of course, and to watch the whole process of dying for not to let it seem suspicious in any way. 

The following thing connected with that is his note. SH admits he`s a fake in a conversation only between him and Watson explaining everything and crying. I don`t think it was only for Watson. Perhaps it was just a “concert” for those who might have been watching or even listening to them – killers, may be Mycroft too. I think he got rid of his phone not to let Mycroft and others follow him by GPS or something. For Watson Sherlock says seriously “It`s a trick. It`s a magic trick.”



 
Chapter four – Molly

 
 



















If we don`t take The Woman, having a big deal with a woman is really not about Sherlock. So Molly did help him with body protection and sertifying fake death. I take it with the idea that SH survived by chance. The building wasn`t too high - 5 floors, there was a temple nearby and the hospital of course - medics came so quickly!  What we can`t explan is that the position of body on the ground wasn`t right.


Chapter five – The Second Big Game

 
 




















Why did Moriarty commit suicide? Yes, I take as a fact that he is dead according to the book (script writers even didn`t kill Irene Adler because of that, I guess). So, my crazy theory is that he was mortally ill (cancer or something) and the game was his beautiful “good bye”, thanks to Sherlock of course – as he became popular, breaking his reputation and life will be the best “burning his heart”. And killing his friends, of course. Main clue - Moriarty can`t stand bright light.
1) He takes an opposite chair instead of the one showed by SH to be with his back to the light.
 2) In the prison he was “looking into the dark”
3) On the roof he also doesn`t look at the sun, holding his head and scratching his eyes, he says “…so staying…”, when he`s standing eyes to eyes with SH he doesn`t seem to feel good.
4) the chewing gum he always takes consists of something anaesthetisic, I think
M had a chance to get rid of Sherlock by giving him such a difficult mortal task. A fairy tale about Bach and his son proves that – M also wanted to solve the final problem. And that was genius: if SH jumps, Moriarty will win, if not, he`ll win too, as Sherlock will be not on the angels` side anymore. “IOU”=”You`re a dead man”. (We hear the same phrase from Watson near the grave). His mistake probably was that SH had more friends that he expected.

Speaking about the final song. "Got the wings of heaven on my shoes; I`m a dancin` man and I just can`t lose"- those lines are from the song "Stayin` alive" of Bee Gees, as you know. All the graffities had wings. Moriarty enjoys watching Sherlock dancing. Sherlock is not dead just for an accident with some help from Molly.

...Со времен знаменитого "Кто убил Лору Палмер?" я не слышала такого вопроса, обсуждение которого было бы столь горячо, как вопрос "Как же выжил Шерлок?" последней серии второго сезона новой экранизации рассказов Артура Конан Дойла под названием "Шерлок: Рейхенбахский водопад" (или "Падение Рейхенбаха", как вам будет угодно).


Конечно, в Интернете уже куча версий, наиболее вероятные из которых можно объединить под названием "Молли-велосипедист-грузовик". Даже видео есть на русском:link Но...
Дело в том, что недавно на вечеринке журнала Радио Таймс Стивен Моффат сказал, что он читал версии фанатов и заметил, что все они пропустили одну важную вещь - что-то такое, что не было присуще характеру Шерлока. Также здесь написано: "Стивен Моффат сказал, что есть хорошее объяснение тому, как выжил Шерлок - и все ключи в эпизоде. Он сказал: "Все уже решено. Мы просто хотим, чтобы люди помучились в догадках."
Но он добавил, что не будет больше давать подсказок, и добавил: "Мы будем совершенно *** по этому поводу". Так что, я думаю, нам надо это учесть и пересмотреть свои заключения.

Так что же такого, не присущего Шерлоку, мы можем заметить?
1) он звонит, а не отправляет сообщение как обычно, а после избавляется от телефона
2) он плачет
3) он доверяет свою жизнь женщине (Молли)
4) может его план содержал долю случайности
5) может быть у него вовсе и не было плана, и он выжил вообще чисто случайно?)

Как мы видим, в третьей серии планы Мориарти созданы из сказок братьев Гримм. 

1) Яблоко из сцены чаепития напоминает сказку о Белоснежке со всеми вытекающими последствиями (смерть и воскрешение). (Слэшеры, спокойно:))

2)  Имя, которое не вспомнить, но звучит как немецкое - может быть... Румпельптильцхен? (Скорее всего, просто Румпель) Характер и история героя, кстати, похожи на Мариарти - этот тоже использовал чужих детей стобы получить свое.

3) Мы забыли о третьей посылке, про которую больше не упоминали - печенье. А сказка - "Пряничный человечек". Пряничный человечек убегал от тех, кто хотел его съесть пока он наконец-то не был съеден хитрой лисой. Он хвастался тем, что был таким умным, что никто не мог его поймать. Эти черты схожи. Думаю, Шерлок понял это - вот почему он сбежал от полицейских, и, конечно, ожидал неизбежной гибели. В любом случае я собираюсь читать сказки братьев Гримм...

4) Кто-то нашел некое падение в сказке о Рапунцель, а именно сын короля падает с высокой башни в кусты со шипами, из-за чего теряет зрение, и, слепой, находит красавицу в пустыне, которая излечивает его глаза. Кусты, конечно, вносят некий диссонанс, но, возможно, здание больницы не такое уж и высокое, в отличие от башни. А часть про глаза немного напоминает ситуацию с Ватсоном. (Слэшеры, только спокойствие:))
Это дело выглядит довольно подозрительно:
1) имя отца Руфус Брюл (также, как и "Ричард Брук", звучит похоже на "Рейхенбах")
2) он хотел, чтобы именно Шерлок Холмс занимался этим делом,
3) дети даже не пытались убежать с фабрики - только ели конфеты
4) почему девочка плакала? Моя версия не включает в себя маски и двойников. Думаю, Мориарти мог запугать ее, сказав: "Закричи как только увидишь этого человека (показывает фотографию Шерлока) или твой брат\мама умрут" или что-то вроде того. Это гораздо проще.
Шерлок действительно делает телефонный звонок вместо того, чтобы послать сообщение "Я - обманщик. Все, что обо мне говорят, правда. Прости. ШХ". Разница есть. Это значит, что Шелок хотел, чтобы Ватсон видел, как он умирает. Если бы он послал сообщение, когда Ватсон его увидел, он бы не смог контролировать его перемещение, а Шерлок хотел, чтобы Ватсон стоял именно там, где ему (ШХ) было нужно. Зачем? Конечно ему нужен был свидетель, чтобы тот признал, что он мёртв. Он должен был видеть все, что происходит, чтобы ничего не вызвало подозрений.

Следующая вещь с этим связана - записка. Шерлок признает, что он - обманщик, в разговоре только между ним и Ватсоном, объясняет все и плачет. Я не думаю, что все это было только для Ватсона. Возможно это представление было для тех, кто, возможно, их подслушивал - киллеров, а может и Майкрофта тоже. Думаю, Шерлок избавился от телефона, чтобы Майкрофт и другие не могли выследить его. Ватсону же он вполне серьезно говорит: "Это трюк. Это просто волшебный трюк."
Если не брать Ту Самую Женщину, иметь дело с женщинами действительно не в характере Шерлока. Молли действительно помогла Шерлоку какой-нибудь защитой и\или фальшивом заключении о смерти. Конечно, это если Шерлок выжил с некой долей случайности. Здание не было очень высоким - 5 этажей, рядом храм:) и больница - медики прибежали довольно быстро! Единственное, что противоречит, это положение тела на земле - оно меняется.
Почему Мориарти покончил с собой? Да, это, в связи с книгой, я принимаю как факт  (думаю, сценаристы не убили Ирен Адлер из-за этого). Моя невероятная теория заключается в том, что он был смертельно болен (рак или что-то вроде того) и вся игра была красивым "прощай", благодаря Шерлоку, конечно - так как он стал популярным, что может стать лучшим "выжиганием сердца", чем крушение его репутации и жизни. И убийство друзей, конечно. Главная улика - Мориарти не выносит яркого света.
1) Он садится на противоположное кресло от того, что показал ему Шерлок, спиной к окну.
2) В тюрьме он сидел, "уставившись в темноту"
3) На крыше он тоже старается не смотреть на солнце, держится за голову, потирает глаза, роняет "..такая постоянная.." (Первый канал: "хроническая"), когда Шерлок и Мориарти смотрят друг другу в глаза, ему, кажется, не хорошо.
4) он постоянно жует жвачку, возможно она содержит что-нибудь обезболивающее.
У Мориарти был шанс избавиться от Шерлока таким последним смертельным заданием. Сказка о Бахе и его сыне это подтверждает - Мориарти тоже хотел решить последнюю проблему. И это было гениально: если Шерлок прыгает, Мориарти выигрывает, если нет, он тоже в выигрыше, так как Шерлок уже будет не среди "ангелов". "IOU" - "Ты - покойник", иначе говоря (ведь то же самое мы слышим от Ватсона у могилы Шерлока). Ошибка Мориарти, возможно, заключалась в том, что у Шерлока было больше друзей, чем он ожидал.

Кстати о финальной песне. "На моих ботинках крылья; Я танцор и просто не могу проиграть" - это строчки из песни "Оставаясь живым" Bee Gees, как вы знаете (извините за перевод). На всех граффити есть крылья. Мориарти нравится смотреть, как Шерлок танцует. Шерлок не умер случайно с небольшой помощью Молли (не знаю, какой).
